Fair Weather Friends (A Simple Sonnet)

Fair Weather Friends (A Simple Sonnet)

In a perfect world, no place for discord;
A fair weather friend changes with the wind.
Take what they will, give what they can afford;
Leaves me feeling like a means to an end.

Truth be told, they do have a place with me;
See focus I choose, in my preferred lens,
Rolling the credits, no need for marquee.
Grant me multitudes of fair weather friends.

Truth be told, you did not take me to raise.
No call for me to apply pressure here;
Caught at a bad time, going through a phase,
Perhaps my intentions were not made clear.

A host of fair weather friends, bring them on;
Remind me what I said, when they are gone.

    1. Thanks, Blue fool... I never could get a handle on whether sonnets were intended to be happy and playful, or sad and forlorn, so I just try to split it evenly, down the middle.

  11. Wow, look at you jumping into a new venue and scoring a fine hit. With your charisma, knack for words and followers, I'd wager you'll be in this game for a couple thousand blogs. I think Wally Pipp has left the building.

  13. Thanks for letting me know how to find you! Good write....and it's true, even fair-weather friends have their place in our lives. I have a BlogSpot account, but only one poem there. I've written more in WordPress:

    but still meager offerings compared to how many I lost on Myspazz. Barbara K. is writing on Friendburst:
